The roots of Bethany Gospel Chapel extend back to the “Plymouth Brethren Movement”, a renewal which swept across the United Kingdom, Europe, and around the world in the early part of the nineteenth century. This affiliation is observable to this day in the support of common Bible camps, conferences, service agencies, and traditions. Apart from this informal association, Bethany Gospel Chapel is an independent, autonomous church, not being under the control or direction of any ecclesiastical body.
Bethany Gospel Chapel began in the early 1900’s, as preachers of the gospel came from various places to preach the good news of Jesus Christ in Regina. Earliest records indicate these Christians fellowshipped together on the 1800 block of Smith Street, in 1914.
Although many years have come and gone, we who now fellowship at Bethany Gospel Chapel believe the true Church is composed of all believers, from the time of Pentecost to the return of Christ. With Jesus Christ as the Lord and Head, this true Church finds expression in each locality. All believers in a given locality compose the local church in that area.
Since it is not always practical for all believers in a given city or locality to meet in a common way or place, we believe it is proper and scriptural to meet in smaller groups of believers (Bethany Gospel Chapel being one of these), thereby giving expression of our oneness, where possible, without negating our God-given responsibilities to and for our own immediate group.
